Eastern Norway Research Institute (ENRI) is part of Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences and delivers knowledge of high academic quality that is relevant to our partners and society.

Head of Department Tonje Lauritzen is responsible for the daily management of the Institute.

ENRI provides research-based analyses based on a wide range of scientific methods and data sources. The staff also assists in self-evaluation and process management.

ENRIs staff works interdisciplinary with main emphasis on social sciences. The researchers have higher degrees in various academic disciplines such as economics, social anthropology, geography, political science, sociology, and the sociology of education as well as deep knowledge on areas as agriculture and tourism. Currently the Institute has a staff of 17 researchers. We have experts in both quantitative and qualitative methods.

Activity

Projects extend from long-term research projects to research-based analytical reporting and consultancy work. The Institute has many different clients. The majority are public bodies such as The Research Council of Norway, ministries and directorates, county authorities and local state administration. The Institute also has assignments for NGO’s, organisations, individual local authorities and private firms.

All activities are research based, but extend from basic research, to applied research, studies and analysis.

The dissemination of results from various research projects takes place through reports in Inland Universities publication series and partly through scientific peer reviewed articles, book chapters, external report series and conference papers. Our staff give popular science lectures, both in and outside the region and write feature articles in local and national press.

History

Eastern Norway Research Institute (ENRI) was established in 1984 as a private autonomous non-profit foundation. The foundation established in 2012 ØF | ENRI ltd together with Lillehammer University College, the County Authorities of Hedmark and Oppland and Sparebanken Hedmark (a self-owned regional savings bank). The foundation was the main shareholder.

In 2019 ENRI became an institutional part of Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences. The Institute has its main office in Lillehammer, Norway, and an office in Hamar.
